چکیده

The formation and growth process of precipitates in Cu-Ni-Si alloys during aging were investigated by anomalous small angle scattering (ASAXS) and X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS). ä-Ni2Si precipitates with wide nanometer size distribution were formed in the Cu-Ni-Si alloys after a long aging time of 10 s. However, the addition of a small amount of Fe appears to reduce the wide-size distribution of the precipitates in the alloy, resulting in the formation of precipitates with a homogeneous size. XRD measurements were also carried out to analyze microstructural change of Cu matrix after aging. The average size of Cu crystallites in the Cu-Ni-Si alloys without the Fe addition became very large after a long aging time of 10, while no significant change in the average size of Cu crystallites was observed in the Cu-Ni-Si alloys added with Fe. The wide-size distribution of precipitates for the Cu-Ni-Si alloys without Fe is believed to relate to the microstructural change in the Cu matrix. On the other hand, the Fe addition is likely to enhance homogeneous growth of precipitates.

SYNTHESIS, X-RAY CRYSTAL STRUCTURE AND IR STUDY OF NEW TRINUCLEAR, BASE CARBOXSYLATE COMPLEX OF [Cu3O(OAc)6(H2O)3]Cl.CH3OH.6H2O

The synthesis of [Cu3O(OAc)6(H2O)3]Cl.CH3OH.6H2O is described. The X-ray crystallographic study of thecomplex revealed an isosceles triangle of copper atoms with a triply bridging oxo atom nearly in the plane of thetriangle. The coordination sphere around each metal center is close to distorted octahedral and the central{Cu3(μ3-O)} core is planar. Every two copper atoms were connected to each o...

Electrochemical and Spectroscopic Study of Benzotriazole Films Formed on Copper, Copper-zinc Alloys and Zinc in Chloride Solution

The formation of protective layers on copper, zinc and copper-zinc (Cu-10Zn and Cu-40Zn) alloys at open circuit potential in aerated, near neutral 0.5 M NaCl solution containing benzotriazole (BTA) was studied using potentiodynamic measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The addition of benzotriazole affects the dissolution of the m...

Characterization of Aging Behavior of Precipitates and Dislocations in Copper-based Alloys

The growth of precipitates in a deformed Cu Ni Si alloy with an aging treatment and the rearrangement of dislocations were investigated using X-ray scattering methods. A small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) method was used for characterizing the growth behavior of the precipitates with aging. The results showed that the precipitates grew gradually to a few nanometers in radius in the alloy aged ...

Preparation of CuO nanoparticles by thermal decomposition of double-helical dinuclear copper(II) Schiff-base complexes

In this paper, two double helical dinuclear copper(II) complexes of bis-N,O-bidentate Schiff base ligands bis(3-methoxy-N-salicylidene-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl)sulfone (L1) and bis(5-bromo-N-salicylidene-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl)sulfone (L2) were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses (CHN), as well as thermal analysis. Elemental analyses (CHN) suggested that the reaction between ligands and ...

Irradiation-induced patterning in dilute Cu–Fe alloys

Article history: Received 9 January 2014 Accepted 24 June 2014 Available online 1 July 2014 Compositional patterning in dilute Cu1 xFex (x 12%) induced by 1.8 MeV Kr irradiation was studied as a function of temperature using atom probe tomography. Irradiation near room temperature led to homogenization of the sample, whereas irradiation at 300 C and above led to precipitation and macroscopic co...
